Went biking from Kembangan to Tanjong Katong Old railway station @ Keppel Viaduct with J. Made some holes and awful bruises in my fingers and knees when my foldable's small wheels failed to mount the curb at an odd angle and I kissed the bushes near Bugis. Was really thankful on J's insistence on a helmet. He brought me to Raffles hospitals' emergency unit coz the hole in my finger was pretty huge and we could literally see something white in there. Got a tetanus jab and thankfully, doc thinks my tendon is still intact as I could still move my finger, though the motion was somewhat limited. Well, I think he felt guilty for bringing me on the trip as he insisted on footing the bill though it was like $200 +.
Singapore's medical fees are just so ridiculous...
Anyway, got my wound dressed and we continued on our way to Keppel viaduct in the rain. It's been some time since I felt so garang and game for an adventure. My brand new bandage dressings literally soaked through and slipped off in the rain. Well, it was pretty disappointing though, as we got to Keppel viaduct only to find out that the old Tanjong Pagar Railway has now been cordoned off and branded as State Property. It is sad, how the nostalgic and lovely characteristics of old Singapore are slowly diminishing. When these little things that give Singapore character and a glimpse to its past disappear, what is left of Singapore then?
Called Al up to check up the Green Corridor, seems like most of it is now guarded, but there's a secret entrance at Bukit Timah. That shall be my next goal then! When my holey finger heals, that is. =)
Anyway, Runkeeper is a good way to keep track of our journeys. Unfortunately, I stopped the app after my fall and failed to track our path to Keppel. Honestly, Singapore roads are so much easier to ride on as compared to Sweden. Most of the roads are smooth and devoid of gradients.
Saturday.
Cooked at J's. His flatmate just had a womb surgery and had to rest at home. Popped over to make us all dinner. J loves black pepper ^^ Ended the day with J teaching me German and me teaching him Chinese till wee hours. Teaching a language always makes me rethink a lot about the origin of words.
Alright, signing off here, till next time.
