Shopped at Adairs the other day and we chanced upon a golden pineapple container XD James thought it would be perfect for Chinese New Year. Relatives are most likely coming over to our place for Chinese New Years this time round. It will be the first time we are decorating our place for Chinese New Year and I'm not even sure how we are going to do that without putting unsightly hooks and stuff from our ceiling. Next lunar year will be the year of the dog! Found this cute little felted doggo on Y!J and am bidding for it. Hopefully I'll get it! I can't wait to buy some plants and herbs for our place when we get back to Singapore too. Helped Deb with some gardening this time round. The potatoes grew really fast! Got some rainbow carrot seeds from Bunnings too and I'm gonna try my luck with them in Singapore. Hopefully they will germinate. We might convert part of our storeroom into a little greenhouse. Realised that I missed the garden allotment for Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park. Oh well, I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for the Ang Mo Kio Town Garden West allotments end for 2018. https://www.nparks.gov.sg/gardening/allotment-gardens Wish me luck! Was randomly reading on the internet today and read some philosophies Jack Ma believe in (or rather possibly believe in if the internet hasn't been lying) which I thought were quite inspiring. Thought I'd jot them down as a inspiration and reminder on the darker days.
1. A person is moulded through adversity. 2. If you’re a person of simple needs, the world treats you in a similar fashion. 3. There are no dress rehearsals in life, you are always ‘Live’ 4. Talent is like being pregnant, only time will reveal it to others. 5. In the past, talking over drinks were more about conversations than the drinks. Now, it is more about the drinks than the conversation. 6. If one is progressing in a wrong direction, stopping is actually progress. 7. There are two tragedies in life: one is being completely disheartened, the other is being complacent. 8. Life and love are the same thing – missing out on love equates to missing out on life. 9. Every rich person will get married/find a partner. 10. If you want to succeed, you need friends. If you want to achieve massive success, you need enemies! Yahoo Japan Auctions is a highly dangerous place for the pockets. I always see lovely craft stuff there and get tempted to begin a new collection of things. This time, wool-felted toys caught my attention. It's stunning how realistic wool felting can make animals look. Saw lots and lots of wool felted cats on Y!J Auctions and some are so life-like. This below is one of my favourites, by Shuma (id: ysyunmana). James finds it creepy though, that it is so realistic. I'd love to display this at home! Below are a couple more works that caught my eye on Y!J Auctions: ^ Works and photos by Watago1120 < Work by muumuu158 Thinking of possibly decorating my new staffroom table with wool-felted items and perhaps in a mori and garden-like style. Feel like having some crafty cuties and greenery on my table would make it a nice place to return to everyday after work =) We'll see how it goes~
Seems like I've been posting quite a lot lesser this year! This has been a super hectic year with house-hunting, heaps of packing and moving going on both at home and in school, renovation and fixing post-renovation flaws. Nevertheless, amidst all the busyness, I got to join two scavenger hunts - GISHWHES and Glish. Both were really fun and it brought me out of life's usual routines. I've not worn so much lolita in a week as I did during Glish!
This December in New Zealand comes as a good breather as well, despite still needing to prepare lessons and stuff for next year. I've had a good year and I'm counting my blessings; really glad that James managed to get a job he enjoys in Singapore and shines in, and of course most importantly that he's back with me in Singapore now =) It's also nice to have our own house where Haru can run wherever he likes. Haru's skin condition has also gotten a lot better after completing the second course of antibiotics and having a change in diet. I'm missing Haru a great deal now that we're in New Zealand... We are also recovering financially from all the house buying and renovation; which means we can now plan for our honeymoon in June and also get tickets for mom and dad to visit New Zealand =) Let 2018 be a more exciting year! Participated in Glish this year for the first time =) It was fun, though it was also considerably more stressful than GISHWHES as it was more competitive. We were in Team Elephant, and we came in second place, just one point away from the winning team! I am really proud of our team and what we've accomplished together! =) We were very lucky to have Brenda on our team, who had access to the ice castle challenge. I think recently, I've discovered country lolita to be my comfort zone. Through Glish, I had a chance to try out Ouji for the first time, thanks to Jenn for agreeing to the swap =) I'm still not confident with my ouji makeup skills and posing though, so I don't think I will be wearing ouji out for events any time soon. Alright here are some of my share of entries below~ ^ Dressing up as an animal ; in this case, as Rudolf the reindeer XD Had fun with makeup. Water-based acrylics make a good replacement for face paints. I finally got to wear my Rainhouse deer cape as well! It is so thick and furry I couldn't find any occasion to wear it out in hot, hot Singapore. Twinning (left) and triplets (right) shots below respectively~ Haru joined in the fun as well~ We got to put a pink bow on him and also play with him. Finally, I did a quick drawing of our Elephamily <3 A pity we may not be in the same team again next time, but nonetheless, the whole Glish experience has been very rewarding and fun =) Super love scavenger hunts!
