Somehow, I felt inspired to enrich my life of late. Went for a fondant-decorated cupcake session yesterday night at the Little House of Dreams (Clarke Quay). It was nice and satisfying. The cake mixture was unlike those out there which consisted mainly of flour. (Never really liked those) This one was a milk-dominant mixture and the outcome was comfortably chewy, lightly sticky and fragrant with milky goodness :D The decorating part was fun too. Learnt how to work with fondant. I'm looking forward to working out more of my own designs! Next foody projects: 1) Cake Pops! Will probably pop over to J's to work out them out together. Aint too sure where I can get frosting from or how I should make them =/ It kinda looks like nutella to me in the videa haha~ 2) Latte Art. Hopefully Nadya would be able to join me! :D

Nyann gave me my first taste of digital scrapbooking when she gave me the Yummy Crummy pack to design our collaborative booth logo for the hobby fair in April. Here's what it came to. I'm pretty happy with it =D I liked it pretty much and felt like starting out on Digital Scrapbooking. I guess it's less dollars-consuming as well compared to the traditional scrapbooking methods. Bought some scrapbooking kits from http://www.sweetshoppedesigns.com/ Guess I'm usually kinda extreme and tend to buy lots in one go XD Will possibly add more to this collection over time~
And so I visited Arteastique for the first time with Celeste, after Steph introduced me to it. A good o' art jamming place I must say. It was fun having a friend to paint with. I was tempted to get the 5 sessions package. I saw it as a form of discipline for myself to set aside time purely for painting. Chose to spend quality time painting and enjoying TCC with Celeste instead of meeting C.
Well, I enjoy the good times spent with my good girl friends =) Been a long time since I've done so, since I was usually with A. Singlehood does have its lovely benefits. Hoping to see bestie back in Singapore soon. Seems like life in Brazil is treating her better now. ^^ And so I went out with J yesterday and brought him to the Neko no Niwa cat cafe since he said that he couldn't find one in Japan. He had wonderful blue-green-grey eyes. Quite a peculiar shade which I wish my dolls had, I've gotta say. Anyway, the place was quite disappointing as most of the cats were asleep but we were not supposed to wake them. But then again, the company was lovely and I was actually more interested in talking to him than in the cats. J let me try his two lens. A macro lens and a 50mm 1.2 lens. Had some difficulty with the macro. Tried out his full frame 6d camera as well but it was hellishly heavy. Learnt a few tips from J and I guess the pretty much static cats helped in my practice. The cats were seriously HUGE. Not exactly what I expected of " 1 year olds" as stated in the booklet. After Neko no Niwa, we headed to Derwish for Hookah. It's fun chatting with J coz he has so many stories to tell from his travels and he seems really in tuned with what's happening around the world. Well, he seemed like a witty fella though his Kiwi accent made some of his pronunciations hard to catch. But I guess I eventually got a little more accustomed to it and the number of words I could understand increased over time.
Thereafter we headed down to Geylang for a meal coz he wanted to have dimsum there. There is a famous one at 126 Sims Avenue it seems. But they were closed when we got there and we settled for wanton mee instead. And then more walking (while digesting) to Aljunied MRT till we found some place to sit down and I showed him Misu and Pyon, both grown up versions. Well, he wasnt really creeped out by them. DANG. Quite out of the blue, he kissed me on the cheek and I wasn't quite sure how to react. There was some awkward silence while my heart was secretly pounding like crazy. Anyway he broke it off randomly with more talk on photography, colour temperature and stuff. Went home close to 2am. Been a long time since I was out so late. Got another kiss on my hand before I left on my pumpkin coach (nehhh... just a taxi). Like a prince! Felt like I was in a dreamy daze. I wonder if it is a tradition for New Zealanders of sorts. Singaporeans would never do that... Woke up this morning feeling all warm and fuzzy =) I hope I'm not reading too much into it.. Have I mentioned how delightful these bodies are? I love how well-sculpted they look.
I'm hoping to get one despite some bad reviews I've heard. Well, Im hoping hard that Miru's head will be able to fit on one of those bodies! http://www.evokedoll.com/doll/bodys/index/type/3 I absolutely love how seamless it is and the ultra posability of these dolls. If only resin sculpts could do that! Haven't written in some time here. I guess I need a lot of self-discipline and perseverance.
Anyway, life has been revolving around Haru of late. Even right now, he is sleeping right beside me, all cutely sprawled out. I've never regretted getting him. After having taken care of both a cat and a dog, I can't really compare which I love more. Ninja had a strong aura to him; independent, fun, carefree, full of attitude and unafraid to show it. He has even dared to swipe at Tashi despite being so much smaller... Haru on the other hand, is actually kinda wimpy when it comes to meeting strangers, especially other dogs. But at home, he is absolutely "sticky", and loves hugs and kisses from me. He's a funny boy. When I'm out, he stays in his pen, which is formed by three wire grilles (which I had used at SGDC to hold up my backdrop). When I'm home and in my room changing, I can hear him jumping and pushing the grilles. In a way such that there would be a gap between the wall and the last grill , and he would dash out and appear in my room. And then he would be licking me all over. Well, technically speaking, he could have gotten out of his pen any time he wanted, but he had patiently waited till I got home. I treat him like my own baby, really. Or rather, he makes me feel like a mommy. There was a day when Haru leapt from my hands before I could put him down properly and landed on his back. He was immediately yelping in pain for quite a while and I was so worried as it felt like a re-enactment of my mouse. (My lovely mouse Cleo died when she accidentally fell from a great height and hit her head.) I felt really traumatised seeing it all over again. But I guess Haru was pretty hardy... After all those yelps, he righted himself and was back to wagging his fluffy tail at me. Honestly I can't understand him much. But that night, I had a horrible nightmare that Haru died, and when I woke up, I realised how much I loved him. Haru is only sticky with me and not my parents, though I'm not too sure why since daddy is the one who loves bringing him out for walks. Brought Haru out to a dog cafe at Balestier with W. last saturday. Had the laugh of my life. The other dogs there were super duper friendly and everybody wanted to make friends with him. But poor Haru was so frightened he tried to dig his way into the corner of the sofa, essentially showing his butt to everyone. Nonetheless, the other dogs were relentlessly smelling and licking him all over, until their owners had to hold them back. There was a really persistent dog who kept smelling Haru so much, Haru desperately struggled to get onto the top of the sofa backing and huddled there for a long while watching in fear as the other doggy tried helplessly to reach him. As MK puts it, my cat is like a dog, while my dog is like a cat.. Wonders why is the world so mixed up. It's the March holidays now, and I'll be meeting J. later. I'm really excited to bring a foreign friend around. J. works in Singapore as a software programmer. We have so much to talk about because of our common interest in travelling and photography. He's probably heading to Korea for a trip this year, but I think I'll still stick to my Japan plans. I ought to find someone to go with me though, since Im not too familiar with that place. I couldn't really think of any fancy ideas since J had already tried out hookah at arab street too. Decided to bring him to Neko no Niwa cafe. Hopefully it's nice. Though S. did tell me that the cats there arent really all that friendly. Will be meeting S there on Saturday as well, most likely to discuss her wedding plans. I'm so not prepared to be a bridesmaid haha~ Alright, gonna sign off here and prepare a doll to bring since J wants to photography it later. Will probably bring GU Misu since she's a personal bias of mine :D |
