So in chronological order, this happened.
Buns got his kinder surprise on the 1st day of October. Wasn't too successful as the piggy ate the chocolate and chucked the inside container aside thinking it was just a toy. Well, after all the efforts I spent cutting it into half and sticking it all back together with hot water after changing the contents of the little container inside! But well, I think it was the only one that didn't go as planned haha.
Next day's clue appeared beneath his dinner plate when he was about to clear it. After a series of clues, he finally found his first gift in his passport case - a camera strap.
Then he had the flower pot ice cream cake, which apparently he's had somewhere before. I was quite surprised. Even our pastry chef Alex has not had it before. He had to chomp the whole thing down to get to his clue at the very bottom of the flower pot, which then led to a clue he had to collect from Jerlyn when we went to the salsa club with them. It was hilarious as the clue instructed him to say "Hello Megababe" to a figure I drew of a girl in underwear. The moment he said that to me I laughed my head off. Well, try again sweetheart!
Alas, he collected his clue from the true megababe. Next was a set of little coupons I prepared for him, which he found by his bike. As it seems, he's only interested in using the "wild card".
Then came Saturday, where he had breakfast in bed with a wide spread of cakes from Patisserie Glace. It was really nice. Went to Galina's that afternoon too and discovered that Galina's hubby was actually a software developer too! Had a nice chat with her, and we had mexican food at Holland V for dinner.
Next day (Sunday), we went for a cake pop making session. First time seeing Buns in an apron =P It was pretty easy to make actually. Guess we can now use the coffee pound cake that's still sitting in the fridge.
On Monday, he got his Monday socks (for two consecutive Mondays). Next few days, I made him a nice card of 27 reasons why he was awesome =) , and thereafter, the clues led to him finding his gift of a One step land camera with film packets from the Impossible Project, and hints that we would go to Batam on the weekend. We were so well-bathed in Batam that his eczemarish hands actually seemingly got better. Then again, it could be due to Squalene, a moisturiser I got under Karyl's recommendation.
Ok, fast forward to the last two days of the bday trail. On Wednesday, he was told to come home earlier, and I told Buns we were gonna go somewhere where we were gonna get wet. He was so convinced we were going on the river trail... Alas we went downstairs and as we walked past the barbecue pit to get to the exit of our condo, he saw his friends and was like "what are you guys doing here? I'm going out!" My silly, clueless boy lol. Then it sunk in after he saw that different groups of his friends were there. So that was how the bbq surprise party went. I regretted not getting to try the salmon coz I was bz bbqing.. T_T
Anyway on the final day of Bun's birthday, we headed to the mount faber peak and had cable car sky dining. It was his first time sitting in a cable car and it was so fun to watch him. Well, as usual, he whipped out his camera and was busy snapping away at the nice scenery~ Food was pretty good too. But I probably won't recommend it to someone who aint into scenery, as the price was pretty steep.
I'm actually smiling to myself as I'm writing this. It does bring back funny thoughts and memories.
Pretty much, it's a way to keep track of what I've done before. It's the first time I've gone to such lengths for somebody's birthday (probably 'coz it was more possible as well since we live together), but it was all very satisfying and contenting just to see him smile =)
Planning for Bun's Xmas pressie now ^^ It's definitely not going to be as great as his birthday's but I'm still wondering what I can actually do. Hope it all goes well!
