Was reading up on the science of baking and came across this very useful graphic by Sheri's Berries.
Made a failed batch of cupcakes on Saturday as my dough raised a lot more than I expected and it overflowed the cupcake holders. Still trying to figure out how to get my cupcakes to peak towards the centre rather than plateau. It would make quite a bit of difference for the piping.

It's always nice to bump into familiar faces from hobbies I have not indulged in for a long time.
"Do it again for old times' sake..." I like the sound of that. You know you are still your daddy's little girl at the age of 32 when he says
"Happy Birthday darling , be a good girl " as you blow out the candles.
Went for another lesson with Yume Patisserie and learned how to pipe flowers in this 5 to 6 hours course. My favourite are the roses (bottom middle), and my least favourite were the carnations (top right)... They don't really look like carnations to me... Piped till my right hand started to cramp. I also made a mistake of adding more colouring after my first set of flowers... ended up with overly dark colours... T_T
Ordered some earl grey and matcha powder online. Hopefully they'd come soon and I can practice again before going for the intermediate class =) |
