Used to confuse them with macaroons (since so many people pronounce it that way)
This image pretty much explains it. Macaroons look nicer with chocolate dribble on them. Might attempt that after I succeed with macarons.

Well, having "conquered" meringues, I've found my next baking motivation - French macarons. Used to confuse them with macaroons (since so many people pronounce it that way) This image pretty much explains it. Macaroons look nicer with chocolate dribble on them. Might attempt that after I succeed with macarons. Anyway, went online to find baking instructions for macarons and discovered these very useful tips!

16/17 August 2014 And so it goes, we skipped the Harajuku walk. The clothes we ordered didn't arrive on time, and Amanda fell sick as well. But the weekend was not wasted. We ended up playing the dancing game at St Games and Freeing SG the next day. It was really funny to see Buns dance lol. We tried the Painter's Murder room in the escape game, but were unfortunately short of one last step to completing it. It was fun all the same, and we actually found two clues by "accident". I'm really keen to gather more friends and try the other larger rooms =) The Painter's Murder room seems to be the only room for 2 persons. http://www.freeingsg.com/themed-rooms/ 23/24 August 2014 Went cycling at Pulau Ubin yesterday. Buns has trouble pronouncing it. Ends up saying "Puala Ubin" most of the time. I'm still aching! It was so funny going crazy mountain biking on a cranky tandem bike. Somehow the bike we got had some screws lose and it was noisy and made everyone we pass by stare at us >_< The best bits were going uphill through skinny mud lanes amidst tall grass and bushes. I'm glad Buns is really fit. Tried being in front once and it was so terribly hard to steer! I could feel his weight shifting from left to right and again as he rode lol. I think I've become a lot fitter after knowing buns. Cycle a lot more, cook a lot more at home (which naturally means lesser and cleaner oils), and sleeping at more regular timings. I've been drinking beer and wines with no issues thus far. Guess the exercise has gotten my blood pumping properly now. Hoping to get a mountain bike someday and conquer the black diamond mountain paths at Pulau Ubin someday (although I must admit that the start of the path already looks very daunting)... Anyway, Buns is busy writing code today, so I shall happily occupy myself with my personal project of making rainbow meringues. Hope they would turn out awesome :D Buns has also been complaining that the food portions at his work place as too small and the only food that fills him up now is the thunder tea rice (holy shit, I didn't know 茶雷饭 translated so literally to that until he told me!) Has decided to wake up a lil earlier to plan a lil surprise bento for him tomorrow morning =) While doing so i did some research online and came across some amazing bento blogs :D http://www.mybentolicious.com/ http://www.bentomonsters.com/ http://happylittlebento.blogspot.sg/ Most bento bloggers turn out to be stay-home mommies who make amazing dabao lunches for their kids. I'd love to make cute bentos for my kids when I have them too ^^ Chanced upon some cute bento designs for halloween which I'd consider making =) This lil Frankenstein is definitely one of them! (from happylittlebento) Buns' birthday is coming soon too, and I've some fun plans up my sleeves :D
Time to get cracking~ I hope he'll like them ^^ One of the fun things about staying with Buns is the cooking part of it.
Everyday I'm discovering new recipes, and coming up with new ones of my own. I think my cooking skills have been honed. Made a dish I love which he didn't fancy too much yesterday lol - Tofu with century eggs and pork floss. http://www.daydaycook.com/recipe/1/details/301/ingredients/index.html#detailTab Nonetheless, I love it. Somehow, I felt inspired to enrich my life of late. Went for a fondant-decorated cupcake session yesterday night at the Little House of Dreams (Clarke Quay). It was nice and satisfying. The cake mixture was unlike those out there which consisted mainly of flour. (Never really liked those) This one was a milk-dominant mixture and the outcome was comfortably chewy, lightly sticky and fragrant with milky goodness :D The decorating part was fun too. Learnt how to work with fondant. I'm looking forward to working out more of my own designs! Next foody projects: 1) Cake Pops! Will probably pop over to J's to work out them out together. Aint too sure where I can get frosting from or how I should make them =/ It kinda looks like nutella to me in the videa haha~ 2) Latte Art. Hopefully Nadya would be able to join me! :D |
