So , I have started my attempts to get to switzerland to join bunsie boy. Thus far, it has boiled down to 3 options, but none too promising, largely due to the language barrier.
1) Applying to teach in International Schools I'm pretty much limited to teaching in International schools as I can't speak fluent German yet. Thus far, I've applied to the 3 all day English International Schools in Zurich (the one in Winterthur closed down unfortunately.) One of the schools has replied saying that they do not hire EU citizens, which the other two did not respond at all.. According to their website, vacancies are only open in December. So I guess I'll have to wait. Anticipation is really one of the most unnerving feelings. 2) Learning German in LSI Saw courses in Language Studies International (LSI). Emailed them and am waiting for responses regarding whether it qualifies me to apply for a visa / residence permit if I'm studying there. Somehow I don't feel very hopeful about it. 3) MA in Arts Education at ZHdK Was keen on trying out Masters in Arts Education but got the bad news that it's all in German. I even have to produce my Masters papers in German... (cries) Well application begins February and there is a German aptitude test for it as it seems. Might try for it. Anyway, all in all, I suppose I'll wait till February... If there are no replies by then, I'd be more than happy to stay in Singapore =) |
